Trips to the hardwood store are always fun. The one I go to is called Hardwood Heaven in Lincoln, Nebraska. They've got a great selection of domestic and exotics. I love that they sell 8/4 (2" thick) shorts of some common domestic hardwoods by the pound ($1.50/lb for walnut!). It's much cheaper than purchasing larger cuts by the board foot but you need to put in a little extra work. Most of the pieces are great and easy to resaw to use for other projects. So if you're looking for a way to save money on your hardwood selections look to see if your hardwood place has pieces like this. Of course you'll need a bandsaw for the resaw but you already knew that.
This is my first blog post. I'll try to get on here more often and just jot down a few words here and there about what I like to do. Please take a look around the website and as always if you have any questions please let me know at firstname.lastname@example.org.
